“The mind is slow in unlearning what it has been long in learning.” ~ Seneca
“It is a great thing to know the season for speech and the season for silence.” ~ Seneca
I have always believed that growth as a person, a leader, or a professional meant that I needed to learn, whether it was via reading, observing, or doing something new.
It meant that I was pushing myself and stretching beyond my comfort zone in order to expand my knowledge, my thoughts, or my skills so that I could be better or achieve more.
But personal or professional growth is not always about pushing, pulling, or adding to my bank of knowledge at all. In fact…
Sometimes Growth is About…
- Unlearning and sitting in the midst of the uncomfortableness or the silence and accepting whatever is unfolding at that exact moment in time.
- Letting go of old ideas and beliefs that no longer serve me but keep me stuck in a place of unhappiness, discontentment, or not achieving the results I want.
- Relinquishing control or at least the illusion that I can control a situation, another person, or anything other than myself.
In my desire to grow at times I have confused knowledge with wisdom, possession with love, and giving up with letting go.
What I am Learning About Growth is…
- I am not responsible for the world, I am only responsible for my own thoughts, emotions, actions and the results I am achieving in my life.
- We each have our own path to follow. One path is not better or worse than another, it’s just a different path. We do not know what is best for others, we only know what is best for ourselves!
- Happiness comes from knowing deep down in my heart and soul what makes me truly happy, not trying to tell others what makes them happy!
My Wish For You is…
- You unlearn what needs to be unlearned.
- You let go of what needs to be let go of.
- You learn to focus only on what you can truly control…which is yourself.
Do that my friends and you will find your path to whatever makes you happy!
