“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” ~ Oprah Winfrey
It’s January and the pinnacle of the college and professional football season is upon us! Folks will either begin gathering to watch the College Football Playoffs or the beginning of the NFL Playoffs. They will gather in parking lots at stadiums or some designated house across the country and in various parts of the world to jump, scream, and holler, each and every time their team drives down the field and pushes the football past the goal line.
What I find so interesting is the fact that their team scoring a touchdown or a field goal has very little impact on their overall life. Sure they may win a bet or feel amazing for a day, but in regards to some major impact, there is very little to no lasting impact on their life… zero, zilch, nada.
However, they will celebrate in the moment as if some life altering event has taken place if their team wins and they will be absolutely devastated if their team loses.
Which begs the question: How much do they celebrate when they achieve a goal they may have been working on for days, weeks, months, even years? Do they celebrate with the same level of exuberance as they do for a touchdown by their team on Superbowl Sunday?
Makes you kind of think…what’s truly important in your life? The points goals scored at a Football Game played by people you don’t even know or the goals that you strive to achieve that impact your life, your spouse, your partner, your kids, your health, etc.?
So the next time you achieve a goal, no matter how big or small, I double-dog – dare you to jump, scream, and holler, as loud and crazy and you would if your team won the National Championship or the Superbowl.
Could make for some interesting days at the office…don’t ya’ think?
Till next time!
