Lights, Camera, Action …. You’re On!
“If all the world’s a stage … please stick to your own script!” – Joe Contrera
With all of the chaos unfolding over the world, I am struck by the level of judgment being projected by others onto the world’s stage.
When I speak of projection, I am speaking of the word in the psychological context. Projection is defined as the process of displacing one’s own’s feelings onto another person, animal, or object.
While most people are the star in their own movie, many believe this star status them to then produce, direct, and critique everyone else’s role or film. So they judge, they post, they give unsolicited advice to everyone, believing they know what is best for every other actor in the world.
Two Truths About You:
Truth #1: YOU have NO idea what others are going through or experiencing at any given moment in time. Even if your statements have a grain of truth in them, don’t believe you know what is best for someone else.
Truth #2: How you act, what you say, especially about others is really you giving the world a snapshot into your inner self. Your opinions, judgments, sarcasms, hatred, fears, kindness, empathy, love of self and others, is all on display on the world’s stage.
I define a leader as a person who influences others to do or to be their best. At a time when the world is in dire need of great leaders …. what are you projecting onto the world stage?
You Have a Choice:
You have a choice; you can project fear, judgment, and hatred or you can project love, respect, and empathy into the world.
Just remember… you have no clue what others are experiencing. And … what you say, how you react to what’s going on is giving everyone else a snapshot into who you truly are.
For your own sake and the worlds’ … please choose wisely!
